138 new books hit Amar Ekushey Book Fair stalls on the 24th day

A total of 138 new books hit the stalls of Amar Ekushey Book Fair on the 24th day of the country's biggest book fair.

A commemorating discussion remembering Mohammad Rafiq and Khalek Bin Zainuddin was held at the main stage of the fairground at 4 pm where papers were presented by Altaf Shahnewaz and Sujan Barua respectively.

Chaired by Abdul Momen, the discussion was addressed, among others, by Shamim Reza, Shoaib Gibran and Aslam Sani.

At 'Lekhak Bolsi' stage, Poet and researcher Shahnaz Parveen, poet and translator Saiful Bhuiyan, fiction writer Shahnaz Parveen Smriti and researcher Moniruzzaman Shaheen today discussed about their new books.

This year, a total of 937 stalls have been allocated to 635 organisations in the book fair. The authorities have allotted 173 stalls to 120 organisations on the Bangla Academy ground and 764 stalls to 515 organisations at the Suhrawardy Udyan.

A total of 37 pavilions have also been allocated this year. Last year, a total of 901 stalls were allocated in favour of 601 organisations.

The book fair remains open for all from 3:00pm to 9:00pm on working days and 11:00am to 9:00pm on public holidays with a one-hour break for lunch and prayers.
